Vibration Analysis

Vibration analysis is the process of monitoring the condition of equipment, and the diagnosis of faults in equipment through the measurement and analysis of vibration within that equipment. Vibration Analysis is typically conducted through hand-held or permanently positioned accelerometers placed on key measurement points on the equipment. Vibration Analysis techniques are commonly used on most large items of rotating equipment, such as turbines, centrifugal pumps, motors, gearboxes etc.

Oil Analysis

Oil Analysis is the routine activity of analyzing lubricant properties and suspended contaminants for the purpose of monitoring and reporting timely, meaningful and accurate information on lubricant and machine condition. In order to establish conditions, lubricants are sampled from equipment and subsequently tested for external contaminants, wear metals, water content, abnormal viscosity, acid levels and particle counts (among other properties). The various property levels are examined closely to determine whether the equipment requires further attention such as preventative or corrective maintenance.

Dynamic Balancing

Unbalance vibration in rotating equipment is caused by an eccentric mass distribution. Unbalance and its severity can be detected by vibration analysis. Unbalance vibration occurs at shaft speed; however, other equipment faults may influence the unbalance and its vibration. Misalignment, resonance or looseness in its many forms can also cause an increase in vibration at shaft speed. These faults will need to be addressed before balancing can take place.
